What is the most common site of RBC destruction in thallasemia ?

If asked about most common site of RBC destruction in thallasemia most of the medicos will answer this as spleen but the correct answer is bone marrow. Basically in thallasemia there is ineffective erythropoisis and  RBC destruction takes place at the stage of Erythroblast precursors in bone marrrow.
